One day as the Lion walked proudly down a forest aisle, and the animals respectfully made way for him, an Ass brayed a scornful remark as he passed.
ある日、動物たちが恭しく道を譲るなかライオンが森の道を堂々と歩いていたら、通りざまにロバがライオンをあざけり啼いた。

The Lion felt a flash of anger.
ライオンは強い怒りを感じた。
But when he turned his head and saw who had spoken, he walked quietly on.
しかし振り返って誰が話したのかを見て、そのまま静かに歩き続けた。
He would not honor the fool with even so much as a stroke of his claws.
彼は爪の一撃(の栄誉)すらもバカなロバに与えなかった。

Do not resent the remarks of a fool. Ignore them.

"Why in the world do you walk sideways like that?" said a Mother Crab to her son.
「いったいどうしてあなたはそうやって横向きに歩くの？」と、ある母カニは息子に言いました。
”Why in the world どうして～なのか(whyを強調した言い方)
do you walk sideways like that?" そのように横向きに歩くの？
said a Mother Crab to her son. と、ある母カニは息子に言いました。
"You should always walk straight forward with your toes turned out."
「常に足は外またにしてまっすぐ前に歩くべきだわ」
You should always walk straight forward 常に真っすぐ前に歩くべき
with your toes turned out. (walk with ones toes turned out = 外またに歩く)
"Show me how to walk, mother dear," answered the little Crab obediently, "I want to learn."
「どうやって歩いたらいいのか見せて、お母さん」小さいカニは素直に答えました。「覚えたいんだ」
So the old Crab tried and tried to walk straight forward.
母カニは前に真っすぐ進もうと手を尽くしました。
But she could walk sideways only, like her son.
しかし、息子同様、横にしか歩けませんでした。
And when she wanted to turn her toes out she tripped and fell on her nose.
そして、足を外またにしようとしたら転び、地面に鼻をぶつけてしまいました。
Do not tell others how to act unless you can set a good example.
(教訓) 良いお手本を自分で見せられないのなら、他人に指示するな。

猫の首に鈴をかければよいじゃないか。鈴が鳴っているのを聞いたらすぐに猫が近づいているのがわかる。」といった。
At last a very young Mouse got up and said: ついにとても若いネズミが立ち上がり言った
"I have a plan 私には策がある
that seems very simple, 単純に思えて
but I know it will be successful. けど成功すると私は知っている。
All we have to do 私たちはやりさえすればいい
